Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 40yo male who recently had a blood panel done and everything came back great except my GGT, which was 198. I run about 25 miles per week and feel great. I haven t consumed alcohol in about 3 months, but I do drink diet soda and put Splenda in my coffee every day. Is this keeping that enzyme elevated?
Raised levels of GGT is not necessarily increased due to alcohol or some food every time. There can be other underlying cause. Or it can be falsely elevated sometimes. I would suggest you see a physician with your test reports. There is nothing to worry. Get yourself checked once and mention any medical history you have during your visit.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Manisha Auradkar, General & Family Physician
