What Causes Elevated GGT Levels?

I am a 56 yo female. My AST and ALT were normal (although high end of normal), but my GGT wa slightly elevated - 56. I am a very modest drinker - 2-3 glasses of wine per week. I have been taking 400-800 mugs of ibuprofen most days for a few weeks due to shoulder pain. What is the likely cause of my lab results?

Hello,

Your GGT is very slightly raised. It is unlikely to be due to the alcohol you take. It can happen uncommonly with ibuprofen if you are taking it regularly. I suggest you reduce the amount of ibuprofen taken if possible and repeat liver blood tests in 3 months just to be safe.

Kind regards
