What Causes Elevated PSA Level?

I am 62 and just had a PSA result of 2.45. My last test was Nov 2012 and had a reading of 0.7. My GP advised a follow up PSA test in 3mos. I am in general good health with no prostate problems that I know of. Urination is good, I do go a little more frequently now with age but my stream is good and I can sleep all night and then urinate first thing in the morning. Is this spike in my PSA unusual over 2 yrs? What could be the cause? I do have high Triglycerides and my good cholesterol is low. Should I be worried? Also can a hernia near my right groin effect my prostate? What should I do? Thank you Email is YYYY@YYYY Dan
