What Causes Elevated RBC Count In Urine After Treatment For UTI?
Hi a week ago i had a urinalysis showing the ff: RBC 0-2; WBC; 7-10..the doctor gave me antibiotics for he was thinking of UTI and to get another urinalysis after i take all the medicines to see if there s an improvement. A week later, i got a urinalysis again showing the ff: RBC 4-6; WBC 2-4. I saw there was an improvement in my WBC but why there was an RBC digits in the result when last week before i had 0-2?
As per my surgical experience, the red blood cell in urine is suggestive of possible cystitis and shedding of blood cell via bladder into the urine or urinary gravels induced microscopic bleeding.
Along with antibiotic, one requires urinary alkaliser, plenty of liquids to cover the issue faster way and if needed consultant may decide for the evaluation of blood appearance via diagnostic cystoscopy or other modalities.

No need to worry. Up to 5 RBC is normal. Meanwhile if there are no symptoms please repeat your urinalysis after 15 days. If RBC count is more than 5 after 15 days, then consult your urologist and get an ultrasound of the abdomen.
