What Causes Elevated RDW And Platelet Counts Despite Taking Medication?

My RDW and my platelets have been consistently high with all other test normal. My Pcp said I may need to see hemotologist if after taking aspirin. I have been taking aspirin and they are still high? What can be the cause? And do you suggest that I go ahead and see the hemotologist? I m 33yrs old in pretty good shape I think. I exercise daily but I do have a strong family history of cancer. I m nervous please advise
