Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I am 43... and I have elevated SGOT (44.2) and SGPT (36.4). I had cholesterol in the past and was taking statix regularly for the last 3 years, now my cholesterol level is 145. I exercise regularly including weight training. My fasting blood sugar is 90 and my BP is always normal. Should I be worried on this level of SGOT and SGPT?
Your blood glucose is absolutely normal and so is cholesterol. Even SGPT is with in normal limit. Only SGOT is marginally high (Normal range 5 to 40 units/L). Since you are regularly exercising and must be on good diet, then there is no reason to worry. Only if you are overweight or obese and indulging in alcohol, then you need to reduce weight and stop alcohol. Since there is no information on these aspects I have mentioned these two, as such things contribute towards increasing of liver enzymes. Healthy lifestyle is the best way to remain normal.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Prabhakar Laxman Jathar, Diabetologist
