Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My T4 level is normal, but my tsh is 144. I don't have symptoms of hyperthyroidism. I have been on thyroid replacement for many years. I don't understand what is happening. Do you have any suggestions as to what it could be? My own MD is aware and is researching this. I am an RN.
Thanks for consulting the Physicians at HealthCare Magic. I have worked through your case thoroughly, and I can easily realize your health worries. Being your physician, I reassure you not to worry as things will settle down very soon. In hyperthyroidism TSH is low not high. In hypothyroidism TSH is high but not to that level. also u r having no signs symptoms of any disease like this as u said. Go immediately to a neurosurgeon, to have assesment if there is PITUITARY GLANDADENOMA (microadenoma or macroadenoma) that can be causing the secretion of Large amounts of TSH instaed of normal T4. your Physician may have gone for suppression test? If not check him for that. May be ur T4 result is not reliable. U may repeat thyroid profile if in doubt because if T4 is extremely low then TSH goes up to stimulate Thyroids to secrete T3,T4. U r on thyroxine u said , ask your physician if your dosage needed to be adjusted for thyroxine?
May you get very well soon and have a wonderful time ahead. Please don't forget to give your valuable feedback to help us assist you in a better way.
Regards!
