What Causes Elevated Bilirubin Levels?

So i had done an std test recently and the tests came out negative, but my doctor said the lab showed that i have elevated levels of bilirubin..what could this mean? Im really scarred that it will be hepatitis or cancer..but could it just mean that im dehydrated?

Hello

Elevated bilirubin may be due to hepatitis,RBC hemolysis etc.
It is important to know other parameters of liver function test and which bilirubin are raised means conjugated or unconjugated are raised.
You need proper clinical examination and routine investigations.
Investigations include routine hemogram,random blood sugar,complete liver function test,viral markers,ultrasound of abdomen.
You should limit fat intake.
Proper treatment depend upon complete evaluation.
