What Causes Elevated Blood Pressure, Lightheadedness, Weakness In The Body And Cyanosis?

I am a 75 year old woman and recently found my blood pressure spiking due, I believe, to pain. It has gone as high as 190/103. I was on 25mg of losartin and my doctor doubled it to 50mg twice a day. It has not controlled the spiking and I believe that my experience of light-headedness, bluish palms and quivery weakness may be caused by increased medication. At times, my BP has dropped to 110/55. Should I ask my doctor for a different type of BP med?

Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, you can switch to other group of medications like calcium channel blockers like Amlodipine, however this BP recording isn't very worrisome but other symptoms need attention and can be due to unwanted drug side effects.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Regard,
