What Causes Elevated Blood Pressure While Suffering From A Kidney Infection?

Hello, my 29 yo daughter is in an ER with pain in her back and abdomen, suspects a double kidney infection, is receiving fluids and an antibiotic but also had a blood pressure of 146/106, weighs all of 100lbs. What would cause the spike in blood pressure?

Hi,
Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
In kidney infection there is narrowing of the arteries suplying blood to kidney. This results in less blood suply to kidney.... This is taken as low blood suppply due to dehydration & in turn kidneys act by increasing water & salt in body. So fluid level in narrowed blood vessels increases leading to raised blood pressure.
Thanks.
