What Causes Elevated Blood Sugar Levels While On Abilify?
I am on severa psychiatric meds. My doctor took meoff Seroquel thinking it was increasing my glucose levels. I am diabetic. He doubled my Abilify and it seems my sugars have risen very much. My numbers are almost always in the 200 range now. Is there a chance it could be the problem? I am on Metformin twice daily 1000mg and Januvia 50mg. He has tried adding glipizide and the numbers drop too low. Same for glimperide.
hello there, I read your question and yes Seroquel is not considered good medicine for persons suffering from diabetes. It is known to cause medicine induced diabetes or it can increase level of sugars in persons who are already diabetic. Coming to Abilify, it is one of the most safe anti psychotic and is not known to increase the level of sugars. So if your sugars are not in control, you may consider consulting endocrinologist and give details of all medicines. I would not recommend stopping Abilify if you have good response on that.
