What Causes Elevated Blood Sugar Levels While On Thyronorm?
Hello Doctor I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism 19 years. Since then I have been taking thyronorm. I dont remeber the initial dose. But for last 6 or 7 years it is 50 mcg. Of late my FBS levels have crossed 100. It is around 105. Other than that all blood parameters are normal including TSH. I am 47. For the last few months I am noticing a decrease in the muscle mass especially face and neck. Is it due to my age? or due to long term consumption of thyronorm? Should I reduce the dose of thyronorm? or Is it due to Insulin resistance? Please help
Your symptoms can be related to a side effect of Thyronorm. Thyroid medication usually increase the risk of high blood pressure. I suggest you to do regular measurements of the glycemic level. If the symptoms continue you should consult your doctor about an alternative medication.
