Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My blood sugar count was about 110 several months ago. Recently I was really sick for a few days with a virus. During that time and since I have been very thirsty and have lost a little weight--have not regained it since getting over the virus. Can a virus cause a person to develop diabetes faster. I was doing okay--no thirst or weight loss--before the virus.
I read your query and understand your concern. A flu is not related with diabetes but sugar levels may rise as a response to stress created by it. You need to control sugar levels fasting and after glucose intake. If you are diagnosed with diabetes try to control it by diet and exercise first.
Hope this clarifies your concerns. Thank you for the query.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka , General & Family Physician
