What Causes Elevated Cholesterol Levels And Liver Damage?
My latest blood tests show elevated cholesterol and slight liver damage....all tests in recent 5 years showed none of this....since last blood tests have been taking 6 Panafon osteo a day and I drink quite a lot of alcohol......could this combination have affected the blood test? Also have been taking Mobic about 3 times a week......have currently stopped these medications
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Elevated cholesterol levels could have been caused due to excessive alcohol intake. Liver damage could be as a result of intake of alcohol (alcohol induced steatohepatitis) as well as fatty liver changes as a result of excess cholesterol. Hence, you need to be on strict diet containing low in fats and quit consuming alcohol completely. This would help to keep your liver healthy along with the intake of prescribed medications. Kindly follow the instructions strictly for the betterment of your health. Hope the information provided helps. All the best. Regards, Dr.Ashakiran.S., MBBS., MD.
