Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have APLS. was on Coumadin for 10 years. Had a stroke in Oct 2016. Since 2007 I have had very high CK MB,but no doctor can figure out why. Any suggestions to what is causing my chest pain. Could it be small vessel disease? What test would help figure out this ongoing puzzle? Was just released from hospital three days ago...headache, chest pain and vertigo. Thanks
CK MB certainly implies heart muscle death. There are several tests most of which you likely have had that would pinpoint where the muscle is dying and that pattern would imply what is going on. First, an echo. Then perfusion studies.
If there is segmental wall abnormality then it is the usual localized blockage and stenting is likely to help. There can be small vessel or spasm of vessels but these are likely to be localized to particular spots and the findings will be as mentioned.
A lot of things can hurt all muscles and secondarily the heart. UT the overall CK would be elevated not just the MB.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Matt Wachsman
