Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My wife is 51 years old. Her creatinine level was 1.41 and gfr level was 51 on 18 April 2017. Now her creatinile level is 1.55 and gfr is 37 on 25 May 2017 even though she is on 30 gm protein level diet. In the 1st test time she had fever and in the 2nd test time she had coughing. Her creatinine level was always below 0.97 before Feb 2017. What is the cause of quick drop in her gfr?
fever or Septicemia may lead to hypotension ( intra vascular volume loss) which may cause decresed perfusion of the kidney lead to elevation of serum creatinine. It is called pre renal acute kidney injury. Other possibilities like drugs or bacterial toxins like Lyme's disease may lead to intra renal kidney injury.
please check her blood pressure, ultrasound abdomen for kidney size and echo texture.then follow up with swim creatinine levels your nephrologist may examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
