Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Elevated Heart Rate And Blood Sugar Levels?
My heart rate is staying above 150 & my blood sugar is 200. These are new, unusual symptoms. I recently stopped taking Lipitor. I have never had a blood sugar problem before or heart problem. I also have had constant headaches for over a month and substantial weight gain ( 25lbs) in a month....What is going on?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
History of high blood sugar, high cholesterol levels and tachycardia is concerning for cardiovascular disease. An EKG and echocardiogram are needed at this point as part on initial screening. The weight gain you are noticing is likely due to fluid build resulting from inefficient heart function.
Early intervention is important in such cases and so please be advised to follow up with the emergency room as soon as possible.
Please address any more questions or concerns here.
Regards,
Dr.Lekshmi
