What Causes Elevated Heart Rate And Rapid Breathing?

Hi for the past two months I ve been having sudden periods of higher (96/min) heartrate and breathing, hot flash and faintness. It lasts 5-10 min and then goes away. I am in otherwise good health, eat healthy, not under stress. Last month it was only a few times, but now it s about twice a week. I am not under/overweight and have no past health history.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If the heart rate remains 96 Beat Per Minuit all along the way then it is a matter of concern, and in such condition EKG is a must or else nothing to worry. Age and gender may be the cause like in female above 40 years of age. It is the common phenomenon, you have not mentioned your age and gender here. But it seems to be due to hormone changes only so no need to worry.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you any further.
