What Causes Elevated Heart Rate And Vomiting In A Toddler?

Hi My 3 year old daughter seems to have high heart rate and vomit not sure if the high heart rate is making her vomit or vise versa? I’ve been trying to keep her highdrated but any little water or Gatorade she drinks she throws them up right away. I’ve read on line Benadryl might help with the vomit. Can I give her 3/4 of Children’s Benadryl? She’s thrown up 8 times in the last 3 hours. Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello there I have read through your question and understand your concern. It seems your daughter has developed Acute Gastroenteritis which is causing vomitting. High heart rate may be due to dehydration. If she is not able to keep down any liquid s you should admit her immediately as she may require IV hydration therapy along with administration of injectable antiemetic s like ondensetron. Benadryl is an antihistamine and is mostly given to treat motion sickness and I don't think it will be useful in your case. You should take your daughter to an emergency as soon as possible. I hope that answers your question. If you have any further questions please feel free to write. Thank you for choosing healthcare magic.
