What Causes Elevated Heart Rate During Rest?

Female, 24 yrs old. Overweight by about 75lbs, have been for about 2 years. Once a week for the past 6 weeks, when relaxing-I will get fast heart rate over 100, light headed, short of breath. Last week was so dizzy once rate increased, I could not walk straight. It usually last about 10 minutes, but last week I felt bad for longer. I have been tested for several
infections, and nothing. My white blood cell count has been elevated about a 13, the past 3 weeks. I have been on a small ECG heart monitor with electrodes for about 2 1/2 weeks. The cardiologist does not know the issue at this time for my heart rate is fine when I am being seen by the doctor. Never went to ER because I am 30 minutes away and the feeling would be gone before i got there. Also the omly recent change is more stress with my job. I have always had neck trouble from young child to teenager-due to trauma, as far as i know not any nerve damage. What could cause my heart rate to speed up during relaxation times?

Hello,
This can be a cardiac arrhythmia like psvt or atrial fibrillation, in which heart rate suddenly goes up and also suddenly decreases. Blood pressure falls during these episodes and one has dizziness, fainting, blackouts, sometimes syncope. Usually ecg is normal as it is usually done in between the episodes. ECG done during episodes will show abnormality. Also, ecg monitor which is attached to you will show if there any episodes of arrhythmias.
Also, hemoglobin and thyroid test should be done. ln order to abort such episodes you should try to cough hard.
Is there any stress or anxiety associated. Till the time your evaluation is complete, you can ask your local doctor for tab Metoprolol.
Hope this helps you and get back if you have any doubts.
