What Causes Elevated Heart Rate In A COPD Patient?
MY WIFE IS 78 YEARS OF AGE AND HAS COPD ALONG WITH A HERNIA SHOVED UP IN HER CHEST CAVITY WHICH PRESSES AGAINST HER LUNGS. HER HEART RATE IS NORMALLY AROUND 72 TO 75 BPM BUT FOR THE LAST 2 DAYS IT HAS BOUNCED TO AS HIGH AS 99 BPM. ANY SUGGESTIONS / COMMENTS?
Excessive gastritis and labored breathing can elevate heart rate normally. If she doesn't have any other symptoms then kindly do an ECG to make sure she has not developed any cardiac arrhythmia.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhanu Partap, Cardiologist
