What Causes Elevated Heart Rate While Not Smoking?
Hi, i am smoking since long time, some time quit it and then restart. from last few days i am not smoking but when i smoke first cigarette i found my heart rate increased a lot like to 121 but it goes to normal under 100 after finish the smoking few minutes later. pls advise what is the reason.
cigarettes contain nicotin which stimulates sympathetic nervous system hence increase one 's heart rate, blood pressure etc. as person start smoking regularly body gets adjusted to increased sympathetic tone and person doesnt feel an increase in heart rate or blood pressure.as you mentioned you quit smoking for some time and then restarted it , which made your body naive to the previous effects of nicotine . restarting cigarette again increased tour heart rate and. blood pressure.
