What Causes Elevated Heart Rate?

I am a fit 56 yr old women. Resting heart rate is 59. When I walk up stairs my heart rate climbs to 150. I run slowly for a minute, heart rate jumps to 152. I am in shape, weigh 114, and was a marathon runner years ago. I know I have a heart murmur. Does that have something to go with it? I also feel my quads as extremely tight. They make it difficult to run or climb stairs. Why the rapid heart increase?

Hi,

Yes, it could be related to the murmur. You should get your heart checked by a cardiologist preferably.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
