Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a relatively new Apple watch. About once every three or four weeks, my watch will notify me that my heart rate was about 120 bpm during the night. I usually remember having a dream during the night. I m 53, healthy with a typical resting heart rate of 60 bpm. Thoughts?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
This is nothing to worry much if it only happens when you are asleep as your dream may excite your autonomic system to increase your heart rate.
My advice to you is that keep an eye on your heart rate during the daytime and observe the following:
1. Average heart rate (5 to 6 readings) 2. Any symptoms of syncope headache palpitations, dizziness 3. Get an ECG done and visit your general physician
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Muhammad Adnan Iqbal
