What Causes Elevated Level Of Ferritin In My Blood Test?
I just got back from the VA-- where i had my yearly physical and blood work--- they went over my blood work results --- they said that it was good---(I m always anxious about the p.s.a. because i had prostrate cancer -- was treated with the seeds & radiation in 20060) IT WAS GOOD .O1 BUT WHEN I GOT HOME I LOOKED THE RESULTS OVER AND I NOTICED AN ELEVATED LEVEL OF FERRITIN ( 406 ) THEY DIDN T MENTION IT -- IN MY PAST BLOOD WORK I VE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS WHAT WOULD CAUSE THIS ? AND IS IT DANGEROUS? WHAT SHOULD I DO ?
Increase ferritin doesn't lead you to any danger. And that too your ferritin is just mildly elevated. Do not worry about it. It just indicated iron status of your body and Nowadays it is also used as a acute phase protein. In your case it might remain elevated because of prostate cancer. Go for CRP or procalcitonin tests.
