Hi Jetesh raheja this side My sgot level 56 and sgpt is 116 Cholestrol total 220 Hepetatis b and c non reactive Doctor suggest me to take heptral 400 od E cod plus twice daily Pre and proboitic capsul ds once daily I have not drink alcohal and never show. Please tell me my liver is damage or not. I have pain in my stomach, leg and hindi. Please tell me resons of increased of sgot and sgpt levels Thankyou

Most common causes of mild to moderate elevations of these tests is FATTY LIVER, caused by alcohol abuse, diabetes and obesity. 2.Viral hepatitis such as hepatitis A, B, C, D & G are other causes of mild to moderate liver enzyme elevation. 3.There are hundreds of medicines that can be responsible for increase in the liver enzyme. Example such an overdose of acetaminophen. 4. Liver function test may also be elevated in other infection unrelated to liver such as typhoid. 5.Profound liver damage inflicted by toxins & poisoning
