What Causes Elevated Levels Of Lipase In The Pancreas?
What can cause elevated levels of lipase in the pancreas? I seem to have some dificulty digesting some amounts of fat. My gastroenterologist took some blood samples and told me my lipase was elevated. I suffered from diarhea for one week and have not moved my bowels since. Approx one week.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern... Lipases are enzymes produced by body for digestion of fats. High amounts of lipase are totally abnormal. Most commonly they are found in the blood when the pancreas is damaged (Acute pancreatitis) or when the duct from the pancreas (pancreatic duct) to small intestine is blocked. Other reasons of elevated lipases in blood are Problems with the gallbladder (such as gallstones and cholecystitis), Problems with the intestines such as infection, bowel blockage (obstruction), liver infection, Chronic kidney disease, etc.
Refer to your gastroenterologist
