Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My blood work recently showed elevated liver enzymes. Above the normal. I don t consume alcohol. I am overweight. Family history of gall stones. How concerned should I be? I was diagnosed with retinal cancer 7yrs ago but no primary tumor was found and my vision has not worsened. Should I be exploring the idea of a primary tumor again?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Liver enzymes could be elevated in your case due to following reasons: 1. Fatty liver, since you are overweight. 2. Obstruction to outflow of bile due to presence of gall stones, as you have a strong family history. 3. Metastatic lesions in the liver from retinal cancer. Kindly get an ultrasound and CT scan done to know what could be the cause for it. Kindly consult Physician with the report for clinical evaluation and further course of management. Hope the information provided helps. All the best. Regards, Dr.Ashakiran.S., MBBS., MD.
