What Causes Elevated Liver Enzymes?

Can you suggest the most likely cause of my elevated liver enzymes? I have had elevated liver levels since a transplant in November. I am hoping that my elevated liver enzymes are caused by something relatively benign, of course. I am taking Sulfamethoxazole, and I have drug-induced diabetes. (I believe that is temporary.) I also confess that I have not had a very healthy diet, and I use chewing tobacco. I ve read that some form of fatty liver is the most common cause, and that this condition is usually treatable without serious consequences. Around 2004 to 2006, I had alcohol-induced fatty liver. I was treated at a hospital, and my enzyme levels returned to normal. I think I am an unlikely candidate for hepatitis, as I have no risk factors (unprotected sex, intravenous drug use, contaminated water). Also, I do not think I received any formal treatment for the viral infection that prompted my last inpatient stay last month. I wasn t prescribed any new meds for it, and I did not subsequently see a hepatologist. What is the most likely culprit? How worried should I be? Thank you for your insight!
