Sgpt and sgot values are increasing since one month. now it has been reached to sgot134 and sgpt 254.. i was taking udiliv 150 twice in a day for 20 days after that doctor advised me to take udlliv 300 thrice in a day bcause my sgpt and sgot values were increasing continousluy now after 10 days after doing LFT my sgpt and sgot value still increasing.. doctor please suggest me what is happening... i dont drink dont smoke and m pure vegeterian.. not getting any symptoms..but because of my sgpt and sgot value has been increased i cant join ship please doctor help me HbsAg, HCV HIV all test are normal
1. although mild elevation of the liver enzymes is normal but since your SGPT [ALT]/ SGPT [AST] levels are increasing day by day and other investigations are normal thus probably there could be an ongoing hepatocellular injury. [ sometimes superadded infection can cause liver dysfunction]
PS. keep a note that although these tests are sensitive but very nonspecific [also high in muscle damage] and serve to detect liver disease rather than quantitative liver function so their high values don't signify a serious complication most of the time, it is the underlying pathophysiological process which needs to be diagnosed and managed, so the interpretation of elevated AST and ALT results will depend upon the entire clinical evaluation.

So if they are constantly on the higher side, check with a Hepatologist and/or get a second opinion and go with Ultrasound, Endoscopy, serum albumin, PT [prothrombin time] and INR.
