What Causes Elevated Liver Enzymes?

WHi doctor, Recently I got myself examined for serum bilirubin, sgot, sgpt The results came out to S. Bilirubin 7.64 Sgot 2145 Sgot 1964 Why r the results so high, I got operated for gall bladder 7months ago, I used to be regular drinker of alcohol around 200ml daily, but from last 7months occasionialy take around 2 to 3 regular drinks twice a week What do u suggest

Hi,

Your report suggestive of jaundice due to hepatitis means liver inflammation. It could be due to alcohol or by viral hepatitis. You need to investigate with following:

- ultrasonography abdomen
- HAV antibody estimation by Elisa
- HBsAg estimation by Elisa
- HCV antibody estimation by Elisa
- HEV antibody estimation by Elisa
