What Causes Elevated Protein Level In Urine And Heart Murmur In A Teenager?

My 14 year old daughter has been having problems with nausea in the mornings and late evenings. We took her today for some test and were told her protein level in her urine was 300+ and she has a heart murmur. We are waiting on more labs and will have to do a 24 hour urine test. We are also scheduled for a heart echo to check the murmur. I am just trying to do some research so I know what questions I need to ask.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

As per my clinical experience, the protein in urine can be from multiple reasons, the main of which are a kidney infection, filtration issues as glomerulopathies and so forth.

Basic diagnosis needs urine culture, ultrasound of the KUB, serum creatinine, complete blood count reports for the root cause management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
