What Causes Elevated Systolic Blood Pressure Levels?
Today During Chemo I was prescribed valsartan 320 with 12.5 hztz am and Pm with an additional 320 valsartan in the pm for a blood bressure that has been 190/99 for 2 days during chemotherapy. I have been on valsartan for years the am and Pm dose however , my daily BP was around 170/ 68. I was just prescribed the extra pm dose. Is this over the top and dangerous in any way?? I have no kidney issues. yyyy@ yyyy.com
Yes, 170 is a bit high and we need to lower it further as the target is less then 140. However the maximum recommended dose of Valsartan per day. So, if you are taking it twice its already too much and you should not increase the dose any more.
Yes we can add another drug to control your BP. Like we can add Amlodpine to it to control your BP. But not to increase Valsartan any more.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
