Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Elevated Systolic Pressure While On Metoprolol And Losartan?
I take blood pressure medication, Metaprolol 50 mg and Losartin 25 mg daily. I have noticed that my systolic number has been elevated in the 140 s but my diastolic number stays in the 70 s. What could this change mean? My doctor has advised to increase the meds to twice a day if needed. I am curious about the increase in systolic numbers. Is this anything I should be concerned about? My only health problems are hypertension and in January I was diagnosed with stage 1 CHF.
* With medications and systolic blood pressure of 140 is absolutely controlled number and is not elevated one.
* Still for better control, I would suggest
- salt-free diet
- regular walking, exercises
- meditations and YOGA
- avoid smoking or alcohol if consuming
* Regular follow up with your cardiologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
