What Causes Elevation In Liver Enzymes While On Xanax And Synthroid?
My ast is 55 alt is 32 all other liver tests are normal this reading has been consistent the past 3 years during annual exam. My doctor has never been concerned I am freaking out after what I have read on the Internet I have been a wine drinker usually 2 glasses per day I have taking Effexor 75 mg or less on and off for periods 6 months or less I am currently taking no anti depressants take .25mg Xanax as needed 20mg lotensin 75 synthroid I am 5 feet and weigh 106 lbs I have no symptoms of liver disease but I freaking out since my ast has been mildly elevated for a while the Internet says you can have severe liver damage with no symptoms
It is understandable to be concerned about any changes from the norm but mild increases in liver enzymes do not indicate severe liver disease especially since there have not been major changes over the past years.
If severe liver disease was present then there should higher levels seen.
Since you do not use a lot of alcohol then it is possible that it may diet and activity related. This is called non alcoholic fatty liver disease where there is a build up of fat in the liver.
A reduction in carbohydrate intake would help- carbs are converted to fat and stored.
I hope this helps
