What Causes Enlarged Kidney Along With Recurring Infections?

On April 2,2015 I had surgery to remove a double blockage hurting my right kidney. My right uterer was twisted so my doctor cut that part out and moved some blood vessels that were causing my second blockage. My kidney was 3 times the normal size with fluid buildup. My doctor isn t planning on looking to see how much damage I have until next month. I have had 6 kidney infections since my surgery. I am currently hurting so Bad in my back I can barely move. I am also having sharp pains in my right side between my belly button and hip bone. Neither of my doctors can see me for a couple more weeks. Is there anything I can do or should I go to the hospital? I am using the bathroom every 30-60 minutes. My side is very swollen. I ve been eating and drinking very healthy since January. I m really worried something may be very wrong.

Hi,

Is there any fever or vomiting? Significant back pain and frequent urination in this setting highly suggests urine infection with probable pyelonephritis(infection reaching kidney), especially if you have fever.

Kindly consult a doctor nearby without delay, as this needs urine testing and antibiotic treatment without delay. Till then, take acetaminophen 3 times a day for pain relief.

Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
