What Causes Enlarged Tonsils And Lymph Nodes In An Infant?

18 month old child with daily intermittent fever as high as 102.9, otherwise seemingly healthy. Has seen every specialist at well know pediatric hospital. Every Dr stumped. Had a bloody nose for 1st time today, also intermittent bluish lips and fingers. Complete head to toe MRI turned up slightly enlarged tonsils, thymus tissue issue, enlarged lymph nodes on both sides of his neck

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* In presence of fever of 102.9, enlarged tonsil with lymph node enlargement is secondary to bacterial infection of upper respiratory tract.

* The bluish lips and fingers indicate compromised blood circulation and the same must be evaluated via antibodies to self platelets or else.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
