What Causes Epstein Virus Infection, Fever And Chest Congestion?

Hi ,my son got diagnosed with Epstein virus at the age of 11, now he is 18 , he is having fever 102F congestion throat discomfort . he went to ER last night ,his blood test white blood cels =7.4 they told me he did did not do the strep test ,they only put an IV and Tylenol and discharged him ,they told me he does not have flu , today his fever went up to 104 F he went to urgent care ,he did not tell them he has Epstein virus they saw his symptoms and read the notes of ER that says his throat culture was negative .they said he has flu and gave him TammyFlu .my question should someone withEpstein virus gets TammyFlu? thank you

Hello dear
Understand your concern.
EBV is a herpes like virus.
Yes it can cause flu.
It is infectious widespread viral disease
It causes fever, severe sore throat, headache, malaise, dizziness, lymphadenopathy

It is is generally self-limiting,
only symptomatic and/or supportive treatments are used
1. Complete bed rest
2. avoid heavy physical activity/ weight lifting
3. Paracetamol/ ibuprofeninjection/tablet for fever and pain.
4. Oral Prednisone tablet :it is anti inflammatory to reduce symptoms of pharyngeal pain, odynophagia, or enlarged tonsils
5. Antiviral drug acyclovir: reduce viral sheddings and leading to a significant decrease in the severity of symptoms
6. Antibiotics-levofloxacin 500 mg once daily for 5 days: to prevent secondary bacterial infection
7. Drink plenty of luke warm water
8. Gargling with warm salted water/betadine 1 % 3-4 times per day
you can also take tablet strepsils.
9. Avoid to go in congested area. use humidifier.
