What Causes Esophagus Dysphagia, Pain, Burning And High Amylase Count?

i have been having difficulty swallowing (female, nonsmoker/drinker, age 64) for about 3 days now. also feels like food/liquid getting stuck in esophagus and goes down very slowly with pain lasting for up to a few hours at times. went to doc and he took blood test (also other advice-such as watch spicy foods and caffiene-which i did drink some decaf today and had burning for quite some time after-also recommended i see a g.i.doc.) they called today and told me my amylase is up. since i got the message late, i only could talk to receptionist. not sure what this would mean-that my amylase count is up. thanks

Hi. A three days dysphagia is not of a great concern, anywhere you can try on some prochinetics like Motilium for some days. As for the amylase it'is up till which level? Without a tipical clinic of pancreatitis you just have to wait and see, we have various causes of pancreatitis, meanwhile an ultrasound of abdomen should be planned in the next days.
