Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My Gastroenterologist said (after an upper scope) that I have a tortuous esophagus. I was a bit "out of it" due to Dilaudid, so I forgot to ask him what causes the condition. Yesterday I had the Barium upper GI series and return for follow-up on Monday. So....what causes a tortuous esophagus?
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, tortuous esophagus is the condition in which esophagus is misaligned slightly curved in position and it can be due to hiatal hernia or it can be due age too (Geriatric ) but age has not been specified, some time long standing GERD could be the cause of this, hope this information helps.
