What Causes Essential Tremor In Hand With Persistent Cough And Hoarseness?

Here are some symptoms my husband has developed over the last 6-12 months. He is a white male and 60 years of age. He has an essential tremor in his left hand. His voice is progressively getting more hoarse and quieter but he has no sore throat or swollen glands. His handwriting in his right hand (he is right handed) has suddenly in the last few weeks become illegible. He has a persistent cough.
