What Causes Excess Body Odour While On Methotrexate?

I have been taking 15mgs of methotrexate per week since March for a uveitis (and other autoimmune symptoms). Since then, I feel like I have increased body odor and can t find a deodorant that is effective.I have excellent hygiene, so this is very bothersome. Is this a common side effect? Can it be treated?

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have excess body odor while on Methotrexate . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to may reasons , but in your case it seems to me that the body odor is either due to side effect of medicine or excess eccrine glands and apocrine glands . I would suggest you to consult your doctor and discuss the condition . Your doctor may alter the dose or prescribe substitute . Doctor may also refer you to dermatologist for proper examination . Doctor may order blood or urine tests to determine if your problem is being caused by an underlying medical condition, such as an infection, diabetes or an overactive thyroid or due to excess glands . Doctor may recommend antiperspirants contain aluminium-based compounds that temporarily block the sweat pore and deodorants . Also maintain personal hygiene .
