What Causes Excess Flatulence With Bad Odour Post Esophageal Surgery?

Hi, I had esophageal surgery last year. Since then I have had a dramatic increase in gas and a definite change in the smell of it as well as that of my stool. Of course, that is obvious that gas and feces smell bad but this is a notable change from what was normal for me previously. It has the smell of something along the lines of flaxseed oil although I am not really eating any flax. In any case, it just is not normal and it is very different than prior to my surgery. Just wondering if that warrants another colonoscopy?
