What Causes Excess Mucus Discharge From Vagina Despite Removal Of Fibroid?
I had a big fibroid removed in July - it protruded out of cervix. ( symptoms were mucous discharge and feeling mild cramps ). I have felt good fir a few months but I am noticing the mucous coming back and feeling like I may get period but I am on the pill and no chance of pregnancy. Not crMping but more like pressure. Is it possible for it to return so quickly or could it be something else.
The excess mucus per vagina indicates possible vaginal infection through some sort of bacterial or fungal infection most likely and not because of previous fibroid surgery. My guidelines at present: - Drink more liquids - Vaginal hygiene - Get a cervical swab report checked at a microbiology lab for best diagnosis on pathology point of view - Prescription of necessary antibiotics as metronidazole, fluoroquinolones and anti-fungal as fluconazole or others from your doctor according to the culture sensitivity reporting - Strictly avoid vaginal or anal sex if active - Control of blood sugar
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
