Hello,
I can understand your concern. Saliva becomes frothy when there is not enough water present in the saliva.
Dehydration or
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease can make the saliva frothy.
5 glasses of water a day are not enough. I suggest that you should increase your water intake to at least 8 glasses a day. In addition, if you are suffering from
hyperacidity or heartburn, see a physician or gastroenterologist for ruling out GERD or if present, to treat it.
Salivary flow is stimulated at the sight, smell or though of food. As you are facing excessive hunger these days, the salivary flow is increased in response to that. As your hunger problem will solve, your salivary flow should return to normal.
Excessive hunger is a sign of diabetes. However, stress, hormonal problem such as
hypothyroidism etc. can also cause
polyphagia. I suggest that you consult a physician for clinical examination and necessary investigations to find the cause of excess hunger.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.
Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
