What Causes Excessive Belching After Thyroid Surgery?
Hi, I had my left thyroid removed 4-23 and the right 5-7. I noticed excessive belching a day or so after surgery. I have not had this problem in the past. How long should this last after surgery. I did not experience this after the 1st surgery, only the 2nd. Thanks...Lauren

This could be due to relaxation of upper sphincter of stomach.If drug,chemical is responsible it should settle early,a day or two. If persists,nerve to diaphragm may be injured.Please eat small, frequent less meals and walk after dinner. Keep pillows to keep head up.
