What Causes Excessive Crying In An Infant?

Hello doctor, my baby is two months old now. We have been exclusively bottle feeding her(Nan pro 1) since birth as i cudnt produce BM required by her. These days she is crying without reason and being cranky during day time. We also do burp her. Is there any problem of colic or gas? How to know it? I have bought a dabur janma ghutti which i have yet not fed her. First wanted to get a suggestion from your end. Can i proceed on giving that ghutti to her? How much to give and how? Reply awaited Thank you Sweta Manandhar Nepal Mobile number +977 0000

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Excessive crying in an infant is commonly due to abdominal colic, indigestion or abdominal distension.

You are suggested to get your infant physically examined by a pediatrician to rule out abdominal distension, pyloric stenosis, intussusception, food intolerance or acid reflux.

If you are breastfeeding your infant then be careful of your diet. What you eat may affect your infant. Avoid taking spicy, junk food. Packaged food or any type of food or drink that may cause acid reflux for it may affect your baby.

In the meantime, you can give your baby Gripe water or Neopeptine drops.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
