Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If the person is sleep all the time so it is the physiological phenomenon in geriatric age if no present symptoms particular of endocrine system is there, still it is advisable to rule out the endocrine dysfunction, second it could be due to general debility, hormone changes, some chronic illness also needs to be ruled out, else it more sleepiness could be physiological, (If the patient is on any sedative drug so dose of that drug need to be adjusted or it needs to be stopped ).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
