I literally fell asleep sitting at a restaurant waiting for my food. It was lunch time and I was with my husband and some friends !! This has never happened before ! I am 60 yr old female who is very healthy other than taking 75 mcg synthesis daily. (Thyroid level just checked this past week and is normal). I have been getting 7-9 hrs of sleep nightly. It's sleepiness rather than physical exhaustion. I just get so sleepy at times and can not keep my eyes open. What is the cause
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
If this is the pure form of sleep and not the neurological deficit then it is nothing to worry but it should not be happened again and again, if this is so then condition need to be look out for cerebral pathologies, diabetes also need to be ruled out hormone changes may be the cause over all it is very unlikely suddenly fall asleep without any prior feeling of sleep.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
