What Causes Excessive Dryness On The Hands?

What causes the palm of both hands to become very dry, red in color, warmer than normal and the palm becomes dry (without normal softness). Most significant is the palm of both hands are very dry white and the natural lines in the palm are lined a bright white and have become deeper than normal. Person is male, 59 years of age, excellent health and weight, no toxic insult from external source nor exposure to chemicals, cleaning products, etc. Condition developed within a week.
